The Hill: Iranian president: Trump has failed to undermine nuclear deal

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani reportedly said on Sunday that the United States and President Trump have “failed to undermine” the nuclear accord.

“The American administration has failed to undermine the nuclear deal ... Trump, despite his repeated efforts, has failed to undermine the accord," said Rouhani in a televised speech reported by Reuters. "The deal is a long-lasting victory for Iran.”

The Hill: Trump waives Iran sanctions for what administration says is last time

President Trump will continue waiving sanctions against Iran that were lifted as part of the landmark 2015 nuclear deal, the White House said Friday.

But the Trump administration is imposing new, nonnuclear sanctions in response to Iran’s ballistic missile activity and crackdown on anti-government protestors.

In a background briefing with reporters, senior administration officials also warned that this will be last such waiver, calling on a follow-up deal with Europeans and a legislative fix from Congress.

The White House’s announcement Friday keeps alive for now an agreement that Trump has called the “worst deal ever negotiated” while trying project a continued hard-line stance against Tehran.

Britain, France, Germany And The European Union Urge President Trump To Preserve The Iran Nuclear Deal

Reuters: Britain, France, Germany plead for U.S. to preserve Iran deal

BRUSSELS (Reuters) - Britain, France, Germany and the European Union made a joint call to the United States to protect the Iran nuclear pact, saying Tehran had a right to benefit from the lifting of sanctions tied to it.

On the eve of a deadline for the U.S. president to decide whether to reimpose oil sanctions lifted under the deal, the foreign ministers of the three European powers and EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini made their plea after their meeting in Brussels.

“The accord is essential and there is no alternative,” France’s Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian told reporters. “We do not hide the other points of disagreement (with Iran) that exist.”

Reuters: Trump urged by top advisers to waive Iran sanctions: official

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Donald Trump is being urged by some top advisers not to bring back U.S. economic sanctions on Iran this week, a move by the president that would effectively end a 2015 deal to limit Tehran’s nuclear ambitions.

A senior administration official told Reuters on Wednesday that Trump’s top advisers were recommending that he not reimpose sanctions on Iran that were lifted under the agreement between Iran, the United States and other world powers.

But Trump, who has previously vowed to scrap the nuclear pact, is privately expressing reluctance to heed the advisers, the official said.

The U.S. Congress requires the president to decide periodically whether to certify Iran’s compliance with the deal and issue a waiver to allow U.S sanctions on Iran to remain suspended. The next deadline is Friday.
